Municipal Court Information 


The West Warwick Municipal Court was created by local ordinance in 1956 pursuant to state enabling legislation (RIGL S697).The court is legally authorized to adjudicate moving traffic violations and all West Warwick ordinance offenses (parking, zoning, minimum housing code violations, animal control matters etc). 
 
 
 
 
Court Sessions
  • Municipal Court sessions are held twice a month
  • All sessions are held on Thursday evenings at 5:00 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers of the Town Hall located at 1170 Main St. West Warwick
  • Cases are scheduled by the Court
  • Proper attire is required and cell phones must be turned off during court
  • The Municipal Court handles Traffic Violations, Town Ordinance and Animal Control cases
       *Only summons that show West Warwick Municipal Court as the jurisdiction can be heard
  • Payments in the form of cash, check, money order or credit card (MC, Visa, American Express) are accepted 
  • *NEW* Online Credit Card Payments

    If you have received a summons and the summons indicates that you may pay by mail, you may send a check or money order to the address provided.  If you wish to contest your citation, you must appear at the West Warwick Municipal Court on the date listed in the summons.
 
    If you plan to use the "Good Driver's Statute" as a defense in court, you must have had your license for at least three years and not have had any moving violations during that three year time period.
